The Story of the AC Adapter, Thomas Edison’s Revenge on the Power Grid (Motherboard) As someone who is always scrounging for an empty outlet, I found this interesting.

Twitch will be ad-free for all Amazon Prime subscribers (The Verge) Yet another Prime benefit for members.

Meerkat the livestreaming app is no more (Engadget) Periscope turned out to be the winner here, at least where standalone apps are concerned.

Facebook launches Messenger Lite app for basic Android phones (The Verge) This is geared at people with older phones and folks in developing country with less robust internet connections.

This month’s Tor.com ebook of the month is Range of Ghosts by Elizabeth Bear. It is free to download for bookclub members (free membership) from October 3rd to 9th.

Amazon’s selection of Kindle Daily Deals includes The Collector of Lost Things by Jeremy Page. Also feature are the first six books in Jeffrey Archer’s Clifton Chronicles.

daily_links_1Today, Twitter has a problem with its censorship policy and they need to sort it out.  Also, Microsoft buys LinkedIn, there’s a big security flaw in Facebook Messenger and there’s a new app that wants to be the Instagram of books. In Deals, $150 off a Roomba and get $ off Amazon devices included the Alexa-enabled Tap and Fire TV.

Citigroup is suing AT&T for using one of the most common words in the English language (Quartz) And this is why we really need trademark law reform.

New App, Litsy, Aims To Be the Instagram of Books (Publishers Weekly) It will be interesting to see if this can actually be a real book discussion destination, rather than just a place to pitch books.
