Daily Links and Deals: The Unacknowledged Obstacle of Literary Sleepiness

daily_links_1Today, a writer looks at the problem of sleepiness when reading. Also a new update will make the Prisma photo app faster to use, the touch problem with the Apple iPhone 6 models, and why Comcast’s $70 gigabit deal is so hard to sign up for. In deals, a VOIP phone system by Ooma.

Daily Links for day, August 24, 2016:

The Unacknowledged Obstacle of Literary Sleepiness (Read it Forward) Interesting thought piece on reading: why we make excuses for not doing it, especially the problem of staying awake long enough to actually get reading done.

Prisma adds offline image processing to iOS app (The Verge) The only thing I disliked about Prisma was the way processing would stall if the cloud was busy. This will be a welcome change.

Apple still isn’t acknowledging its growing ‘touch disease’ problem (The Next Web) It seems that iPhone 6 and 6 Plus users have a problem with their devices and Apple’s not helping.

Comcast’s $70 gigabit deal is shockingly difficult to sign up for (Ars Technica) You can get a better deal from Comcast in cities where it completes with Google Fiber. But what do you do when customer services says they know nothing about the offer?

Deals of the Day:

(A note on Daily Deals: All prices current at the time of posting and subject to change. Most items marked Daily Deals are good for only the day posted.

Many large promotions have discount pricing that is set by the publisher. This usually means that titles can be found at a discount price across most platforms (with iTunes sometimes being the exception). If you have a favorite retailer you like to patronize, check the title on that website. There is a good chance that they will be matching the sale price.)

Daily Links are interesting links I discover as I go about my online day. The frequency and number of links posted depend upon the daily news. I also post other, different links of interest on Twitter, Facebook, and on the Google Plus eBook Evangelist Page.
